Why your book should have a web address

We have designed ScrollStack to make things that are (oddly) hard on the web really simple. One of these oddities is how difficult it is for authors to offer entire books or samples directly to their fans.

Archaic publisher contracts are one barrier, but they will (over time) give way to new ones as a new direct author to reader distribution becomes more common. Here are the reasons why we think the time for that shift is here and now.

  1. It’s easy to offer paid or free or for followers only books or extracts. Requires no technical skills or upfront cost. Here is how. Create a post that tells the reader about your book and upload it as a ePub, .mobi, or PDF file for download

  1. A webpage dedicated to your book will also help you be found more easily on search engines and discovered on social media. You can add extras - audio, video, images and others to engage fans in ways that you can’t on Amazon shopping page or publisher websites. Most importantly you can build your list of follower which you own and can share new works with.

  2. In the world of tree books you the author end up making a tiny fraction of the cover price. On ScrollStack you keep majority of the revenues. For now we charge only transaction fees + taxes. However even when we charge a platform fee it will be small (~10%).
